We've put together a great list of events around the city to celebrate Canada's 149th birthday. There is no shortage of fun activities for the whole family.
Canada Day Events in Calgary
Fort Calgary 9am to 4pm
Fort Calgary has a free pancake breakfast, live music, food trucks, a petting zoo and many more activities for the whole family. As the birth place of Calgary, this is a great place to celebrate the birth of Canada.
East Village 9am to 4pm
The East Village is getting bigger and better every year. There will be craft and artisan vendors, children's activities, live performances and Show & Shine, the classic car show.
Olympic Plaza 10am - 9pm
Olympic Plaza is always a fun place to take the family on Canada Day. There will be live performances on the main stage and many buskers throughout the day. There are many booths, food trucks and activities for children.
Stephen Avenue Mall 11am - 8pm
If you've made it to Olympic Plaza, take a stroll along Stephen Avenue for more Canada Day celebrations. With all the patios, it's a great place to stop for lunch or a beer.
The National Music Centre 10am - 5pm
Studio Bell, the home of The National Music Centre, is officially opening on July 1st. Check out how the old King Eddy blues bar has been renovated to a world class music complex. There is free admission for a limited number of guests, so get there early if you want to see Calgary's new home for music.
Prince's Island 12pm - 6pm
Prince's Island is a great place to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors on Canada Day. This year, there is an Aboriginal Showcase complete with Pow Wow, the Canadian Military has interactive displays, plus there will be many physical activities for children and adults if you are looking for some recreation.
Riverfront Avenue 12pm - 11pm (Harry Hays Building)
Riverfront Avenue is where the official Calgary Canada Day celebrations take place. Mayor Nenshi will be starting the ceremonies at 7pm, followed by some great Canadian music right up until the big fireworks display. There are many family friendly activities planned all day.
Fireworks 11pm
The main fireworks display over Centre Street Bridge starts at 11pm. If you are on Riverfront Avenue, you'll have a great view.
